9. APPROVAL OF A PERMANENT EASEMENT FOR WATER DISTRIBUTION, WASTEWATER AND A LIFT STATION FORCED MAIN SYSTEM AT MCINTOSH MIDDLE SCHOOL TO SARASOTA COUNTYDescription
Sarasota County Government is requesting a permanent nonexclusive utility easement at McIntosh Middle School for an existing water supply and wastewater system located on the site. There is a project scheduled at this location to replace two old water lines for the loop system and the easement is needed for the project and for maintenance and operation afterwards.
Recommendation That the School Board of Sarasota County approve the permanent nonexclusive utility easement on the McIntosh Middle School property for Sarasota County Government, as presented.

10. CERTIFICATION OF EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES INVENTORYDescription
Chapter 1013, F. S., requires each School Board to certify by each April 1st that its educational facilities data within the Florida Inventory of School Houses is current and accurate. The district's data has been updated by the Construction Services' Plan Room to reflect all changes since the 2014 certification.
Recommendation That the School Board of Sarasota County certifies that the district's educational facilities data is current and accurate.

11. ENTRY OF FINAL ORDERDescription The School Board must enter a Final Order in the case of School Board v. Dorey. Administrative Law Judge Robert E. Meale entered a Recommended Order recommending dismissing the proposed termination. The Superintendent filed exceptions to the Recommended Order. Subsequently, Mr. Dorey resigned his employment. The Proposed Final Order adopts the Findings of Fact in the Recommended Order and finds the remaining issues moot as Mr. Dorey's employment has already ended.
Recommendation That the Final Order in the case of School Board of Sarasota County, Florida v. Harvey Dorey, Case No. 14-4279, be adopted as presented.

12. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT BETWEEN TEKSYSTEMS, INC. AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription
A contract with TEKsystems, Inc., not to exceed $150,000 will provide high caliber information technology (IT) professionals to work with the department of Research, Assessment & Evaluation in further development of Sarasota's Local Instructional Improvement System (LIIS).

13. APPROVAL OF SARASOTA COUNTY SCHOOLS PURCHASE OF PHASE 2.2 DESKTOP AND NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS AND SERVICES FROM HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANYDescription
Hewlett-Packard company has provided Sarasota County Schools with a comprehensive product and service program to procure desktop and notebook computers utilizing the State of Colorado, Department of Human Services RFP #NC91001100ITS. This provides ongoing asset management, deployment logistics, warranty and repair support, and service management.
This agreement provides the district with a turnkey leasing solution for computer replenishment that proves the best of product and services. It is based on a 4-year lease for equipment utilization, management, warranty, repair and support. Key benefits of this agreement are:
This effort is year 2 of a 4-year plan for computer refresh and deployment district-wide, and prepares Sarasota schools to meet the standards for digital testing requirements.
Computers removed from the schools involved in this phase and less than 6 years of age will be deployed to other District schools. All computers greater than 6 years old will be first made available for our Texcellence program prior to releasing them to a recycler for disposal.
Recommendation That the lease proposal from Hewlett-Packard Company be approved for award and purchase with a not to exceed value of $10M, and grant the Chair authorization to execute final lease documents.

14. APPROVAL OF EXPULSION ABEYANCE CASE NO 15-046Description
School Board Policy 5.34(4) permits the Board to hold in abeyance the expulsion of a student if the student participates in a recognized alternative-to-expulsion program. The student is being placed in alternative school.

15. APPROVAL OF EXPULSION CASE NO 15-210Description
The student listed in Expulsion Case No 15-210 is in violation of an accepted settlement agreement for Alternative School Placement due to non-enrollment. On January 30, 2015 the student violated School Board Policy 5.32 Off Campus Felony. It is the recommendation of Superintendent that the student be expelled from Sarasota County Schools until January 5, 2016.
Recommendation That in accordance with provisions of Sections 1006.07(1)(a)(b), Florida Statues and School Board Policy 5.34, the holding of a hearing having been waived by the student/parent, the recommendation as specified in Expulsion Case No 15-210, to expel the student referenced therein from the Sarasota County Schools, be approved effective immediately until January 5, 2016.

CONSTRUCTION

APPROVAL OF UPDATE #2 TO THE 2015 ANNUAL CERTIFICATION OF PROFESSIONALS FOR CONSTRUCTION RELATED SERVICESDescription The recommended professionals have submitted request for annual certification by the School Board to provide professional construction related services for Sarasota County School Board projects. These submissions are in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The initial list was Board approved on 1/6/2015 (Item #28). The newly added firms are identified in the enclosure at the end of the listing. Upon Board approval, the pertinent date from these submissions will be incorporated to the existing list.

New Business25. APPROVAL OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA, STEMSMART PROCLAMATIONDescription
In 2010, The Sarasota County School District and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation initiated a five-year STEMsmart Collaboration to transform teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), to encourage more students to study STEM subjects and to prepare students for postsecondary study and careers in STEM professions. Although the term of the partnership is drawing to a close, the district is fully committed to sustaining and enhancing its STEM programs.
To affirm the district's commitment to continuing the work funded by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, the STEMsmart Proclamation presented for approval will be read at a STEMsmart Collaboration Celebration on March 17, 2015.
